Blue Like Jazz

There was once a man named Don Astronaut.

Today was a good day. I slept in and my mum and I had to rush to the greyhound station, we made it a little late but the bus waited for me. On the bus I sunk my teeth into "Blue Like Jazz". I started it on wednesday and havent really put it down. Tomorrow I may have to make some jello. I have really appreciated this book and I think I will start a second read this weekend.
Youth turned out to be wonderful this evening. I rode the bus down town and to the Church all the while carrying my djimbe. I believe I felt much cooler than I actually am. At band rehersal most of the guys were late except one, instead of getting a head start we just prayed. Prayed for the group and prayed for each other. It was wonderful. When the rest of the guys got there we had a chance to learn some new songs, the guys are pretty quick now.
Tonight above many other nights I felt a real connection with this group. Some of the regulars were not able to make it but we still had enough guys to play a few games of bucketball and football in the park across the way. I was a little out of breath but the day was beautiful and it felt good to run. After everyone was run down we sat to catch a breath and the guys started talking, we talked about school and their friends and I got to hear a bit about what was going on in thier lives. After that we hit up some slurpees [slow joe's to be exact, kind of a slurpee/soft ice cream float] then we continued the conversations and brought it into our devotional. I worry sometimes about the relevency of my approach to devotionals with these guys. I have a lot to learn.
We cleaned up the building and I got a lift home, complete with a gift of oranges. I plan on eating oranges tomorrow. This was my first week leading without my friend Jason and though I think it went well I definately noticed his absense. I am looking forward to the rest of the summer however and I hope that the time Jason spends in the States can really help set him and his wife up for this next year.
For now I have to go to bed
